Resurrection

Its been 12 years since I started this blog. It has only 25 entries. The last one was 3~4 years back. And I haven't read or visited my own blog in these 3~4 years. But finding it back today and reading the posts I had written brought good positive memories. This is the place where I'd come write down some of my thoughts and it is nice to reflect back on what I was thinking back then. I'm not a writer, i don't write often. But I've wanted a place where I can pen down my thoughts and that's where this blog started.

Now that I've found it back again, I will continue to put my thoughts and talk on my blog. I like what it stands for and i'd like to continue to keep it alive.

And a fun fact, a decade ago, I had sent my blog to space. That was fun.

Scarcity

The guarantee that most of the population has when they open up a tap to get water; flick a switch to turn on the light or fan; open the fridge to take out some food. This is an assurance or rather a guaranteed or given that we don't think about any more. It it's expected that when we do the above, we will get what we came looking for - food, water, electricity. All off our needs will be fulfilled. But what about the rest of the population? Probably a large part of the worlds population still stand in a queue to get water at a specific time of the day, from a specific set of easy sources, possibly not so clean. Electricity is not really a given there. Burning a lamp to get some light it's the norm & again there it's no guarantee that there it's enough oil left fort the night or for the time to turn on the light. Food is a daily battle also. It's not as easy as to go to a superstore and pick some on there way home. The days goods must be earned that day, with the days wages. Any blip there and you risk your family going hungry for the night.

For those with means, it's important that we don't abuse the facilities that we take for granted on a minute by minute basis, something that will make the basics slightly more accessible to those in dire need. So next time you turn on a light or open there fridge in the night, remember someone else out there can't. Use you're resources wisely.

Little Finger

Few days back, I got my little finger of the right hand, between door and the wall. Extreme pain, with splatter of little blood dots sitting inside my skin, as a proof that internal veins have been damaged and my finger turning blue gave some indication to the expected damage. This made me realize the importance of this little finger, like many other parts of ours, which we do not think much of, till we really don't have them anymore (goes for not just parts, but everything)..

I can't ..

- Drive my bike well
- Apply front bike break
- Press enter on the keyboard
- Do proper hand-shake
- Indicate that i gotta take a piss
- Write very well (not that I have a good hand-writing anyway)

Above are the few things i've observed around these few days. My finger is getting back to normal.

Why don't we understand the importance of the thing we have, unless we loose it/that?

20072007

20.07.2007

Its strange, how certain things hold importance and certain things don't. And further more strange that, we miss out on all important amazing things that life has to offer, coz we're busy either wondering about what has happened in past, or what the future might hold, and in turn, we loose everything that we have in our hand, the present that God gave us, i.e. today, i.e. "Present"..

There was such a big hype around when we observed 07.07.07 sometime back on Earth, but there ain't no word, with this combination of 20.07.2007 .. guess its the same way .. "to one's own" .. something that might have significance for me, might surely mean nothing to you ..

well who cares ..

Love

What is Love?

Is it a feeling of giving unconditionally, without expectations?

From Oxford dictionary:

_______________

love

• noun 1 an intense feeling of deep affection. 2 a deep romantic or sexual attachment to someone. 3 a great interest and pleasure in something. 4 a person or thing that one loves. 5 (in tennis, squash, etc.) a score of zero. apparently from the phrase play for love (i.e. the love of the game, not for money).

• verb 1 feel love for. 2 like very much. 3 loving showing love or great care.

_______________

So, love is an intense feeling of affection. If the definition is that simple, why is it difficult to find one's love, and worse, admit love for the other?

For me, its easy to love non-human. I'm in love with my Bike, my gear, my phone etc, coz I have just one each of these. As one of the famous quotes said, "too many choices bewilder and frustrate, that's why I have one pair of shoes, one watch...".

Its not about finding easy love, and its not about loving something / someone that does not demand. For example, I love my bike, coz i get unconditional love back, she stands by me when i really need, we can talk, i hear in case she's uncomfortable, and she understands when i can't keep my promise (example cleaning up etc). And over a period of time, like for my bike converted to love, where each other is giving only, without any expectations. I wonder why is it so difficult for me to love a person.

Thinking through the situation, i think, love is only when you know the person inside out, when the other person has nothing to hide, stands naked in front of you with no hidden agenda, no hidden thoughts, its like giving oneself up to the other, for the other, not for self. Like, loving the other person, for the other person, not for nothing else.

Wonder why its easy for us all to love our pets, and not the humans, when all humans want is the same thing, "Love".

Tied up ..

I think, we got some fundamentals wrong, while the older generation was passing on the way to live life to the younger generation. And no, i'm not talking about 100 years ago or so, but i'm talking about 1000's of years ago, when the first civilization was just formed, and humans were learning to live with each other, and the unsaid rules were being laid out.

One of them, which is translated today, and is roughly part of every human who is breathing at this moment, is commuting. One moves out during the day, and goes wherever one has to, for couple of hours, couple of days, couple of weeks, but eventually does return back to his home. This is how it has been since forever, and this is how everyone lives on, with only few exceptions. Just makes me wonder, that we're basically tied up with a string at our back, and we do have to return back to our starting point, to do what, well to start yet again sometime.

Look at a biker for example, he/she picks up a destination. Bikers ride for the journey and not destination. Destination is only a reason to perform that journey. So, they travel down to their destination, enjoying the journey. And once there, they have to return back, which to me, appears an unlearning process. I wonder why we were made to behave in such a manner, that we do have our belongings, our loved ones, our everything where we begin from, and then we "have" to return back. Why can't we just continue going on. Life is meant as a continual process, and it means that we learn more and more each and everyday, and continue going on and on. But in this way of civilization, all it seems is like we're tied with a thread at our backs, which is like a spring, pulling us back, from wherever we go on to.

I wonder how the world will be, if we were not carved out with strings attached and made to come back to starting point, and instead, keep going on and on.
